Anonymous advocate in Morocco

An advocate took video of police officers in Morocco repeatedly demanding bribes from motorists and published them on YouTube, where they were viewed hundreds of thousands of times. Not only did the government take action against the police officers, but it used the same technique as the “Targuist Sniper” by installing video cameras to catch police in the future.

Bloggers and advocates in Burma
Advocates use blogs to get around the military junta’s censorship of news from Burma, and to spread the word about human rights abuses. Bloggers were able to spread news about two critical events by circulating photos taken with cheap digital and mobile phone cameras: citizen protests against the abrupt end of fuel subsidies, and the resulting increase in military violence against citizens. Burmese images of Buddhist monks and nuns on the streets became very popular online, and helped spread reports about what was happening from Burma to the rest of the world.
